It isn’t easy getting to the top of this league.
Sequim’s Wolves passed a second big test in their 2012 campaign, knocking off league power Kingston 4-3 at home on Sept. 24.
Sequim (4-0 in Olympic League play) swept all three singles matches and got a win in No. 4 doubles play from Jerry Bryan and Nick Johnston to clinch the match.
Donovan Lee earned a three-set win against the Buc’s top singles player, Tyler Shuey (6-3, 3-6, 6-3). Sequim’s Matthew Richards and Victor Lam had straight-set singles wins as well.
Sequim added a win at Chimacum/Port Townsend on Sept. 26, getting wins from three doubles teams after the Jefferson County-based team forfeited four matches because of a small roster.
With the win, the Wolves improved to 8-1 overall on the season.
Sequim was scheduled to host Bremerton on Oct. 1 and Chimacum on Oct. 3.
The Wolves wrap up their Olympic League schedule Oct. 5 at Port Angeles.
Sequim plays at the Olympic League tournament on Oct. 10, hosted by Port Angeles.
