Like a home away from home.

Peninsula’s men started where they finished, sweeping a pair of non-conference games against Edmonds and Everett on Aug. 27-28 at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, where nine months prior they took the NWAACC title.

Alex Martinez had two scores while Kalei Gallarde and Ash Apollon added one each in a 4-1 victory against the Edmonds Tritons on Aug. 27.

Corby May had two assists and Angel Guerra had six saves in goal for the Pirates.

On Aug. 28, the Pirates blanked Everett 4-0, getting one score each from Apollon, Martinez, Christipher/Christopher? Galea and Musa Kamara. Edwin Guandique and

Aaron Zavolokin split the shutout for P.C.

"Both games played out about the same — we got to play everybody and move players around," Peninsula coach Andrew CHapman said. "(We) didn’t pick up any injuries which is a huge plus. We had a lot of success being able to move the ball around."

Peninsula’s men and women had non-conference games Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 — results of the matches were past deadline for this section.

The Pirate men are back in action today, Sept. 4, when they host Columbia Basin at 5 p.m. Peninsula’s women take on Lane on the road on Sept. 10 before hosting Southwest Oregon on Sept. 14.
