Madison Zbaraschuk showed plenty of clout as a softball star at Sequim High. She’s doing the same in college.

Zbaraschuk hit three home runs as the University of Missouri-St. Louis swept a pair of doubleheaders against Quincy and Truman State on April 4- 5.

Zbaraschuk, a 2011 Sequim High graduate, hit a pair of home runs in the first game against Quincy on April 4, and hit another in the nightcap against Truman State on April 5 to help her squad sweep both doubleheaders.

The senior at Missouri-St. Louis (35-3) is hitting .357 with eight home runs and 25 RBIs for the Tritons. She entered the season as the school’s career RBIs leader (126), ranking fourth in career home runs (27) and eighth in total bases (261).

As of last week, Missouri-St. Louis has a 17-game winning streak.

Brocklesby an all-around star

Jason Brocklesby, a 2013 Sequim High School grad and former state high jump champion, is putting his athletic prowess to work for the Olympic Rangers.

Brocklesby, a sophomore at Olympic, finished with 5,661 points to win the decathlon at the Western Washington University Combined Events Track and Field meet on April 2-3. He ran the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.95 seconds and the 1,500-meter race in 5:24.74. He threw a personal best in the discus (112-6) and added strong finishes in the javelin (131-5) and pole vault (11-8).

Brocklesby took third in the decathlon at the 2014 NWAC championship meet.
