Peninsula Dream Machines invites the community to the first Volunteer Hospice Cruz-In, set for 1-6 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at Puerto de Angeles restaurant, 940 E. First St., Port Angeles.
The event includes five dragsters with fire-offs for the first time ever in Port Angeles. Featured are Jerry “The King” Ruth, Doss Clayton, “Kansas” John Wiebe, Jerry King and 45 Bob Thomas.
Ruth earned three divisional funny car titles, eight divisional top fuel titles — including seven in a row from 1968-1974 — and the top fuel world title. Ruth also was the first driver to win both funny car and top fuel finals at the same event, a feat he accomplished four times.
Vehicle admission is $20. The first 100 vehicles (hot rods, customs, classics and bikes) registered receive a goodie bag, a raffle ticket and admission for driver and passenger to the dragster fireoffs.
Spectator admission for cruz-in and dragsters is $3 and children younger than 12 are free when accompanied by an adult.
Eighteen award picks will be given out during the show.
There are more than 80 raffle prizes, including a hot rod pedal car and numerous gift certificates; winners don’t need to be present to win.
All money raised at this event goes to Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County.
Major sponsors include All Metal Recycling, Ancient Auto, Auto Zone, Don Love Trucking, Jim’s Pharmacy, Les Schwab Tires, Olympic Veterinary Clinic, Sound Community Bank, Steve Methner’s State Farm Insurance, Tall Cotton Care Home, The Hair School, Windermere Real Estate and Wolfley Law, P.S.
