Former SHS cross country standout Adrian Clifford is still running strong. The Linfield College (McMinnville, Ore.) junior raced to an 18th place finish at the Northwest Conference championships on Oct. 31, hosted by Pacific Lutheran University.
Clifford covered the 8,000-meter course in 27:29, second on the Wildcats to senior Alex Mangan (14th, 27:09). The finish saw Clifford improve 15 places from his previous career best at the conference final. Linfield took fifth in the nine-team field; Whitworth won the conference title.
Clifford, a two-year letter-winner coming into the season, moves on to compete at the NCAA III West Regionals in Pomona, Calif., on Nov. 14.
An exercise science major at Linfield who also competes with the school’s track and field team, Clifford graduated from Sequim High in 2013. He competed in two state cross country meets (2011, 2012) for the Wolves.
