Shrugging off some early-season, non-league losses, Sequim’s bats lit up in a pair of Olympic League blowouts last week.
The Wolves got a great pitching performance from lefty Lainy Vig and won its Olympic League opener 13-2 over Bainbridge in March 21.
“We played pretty well. It was definitely an improvement over our game last Wednesday [a 9-6 loss to Shelton],” Sequim coach Mike McFarlen said.
Vig had nine strikeouts while giving up three walks and four hits. She also went 2-for-4 at the plate.
Teammate Taylee Rome had a big day, going 3-for-3 with a single, double and a home run. Mia Pozernick went 2-for-3 with a single and a home run. Hannah Bates went 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
The Wolves added a 26-11 home win over Bremerton in a contest muddied by rain and hail on March 23. Further details were not available.
Sequim (2-0 in Olympic League, 2-3 overall) was scheduled to play at North Kitsap on March 28; results were not available at press time.
The Wolves host North Mason on March 30 and play at Gig Harbor on March 31 before spring break. They are back on the diamond April 11 at Kingston and host Olympic on April 13.
