Sequim High’s seniors finished their home careers in style last week.
The Wolves used a 12-hit barrage to knock off North Mason in a 16-0 rout on May 3, their final home game of the 2016 season. Senior McKenzie Bentz and Shelby Jones combined on a five-inning no hitter, striking out seven and walking just two.
Allysen Montelius paced the Wolves’ offense with a double and four RBIs. Bentz had a single, drew three walks and scored three times. Bobbi Sparks went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Chloe Sparks had two hits while Jones and Jordan Bentz had a double and RBI each. Emily Copeland scored three times.
Kyla Rigg and Cailey Stipe, added base hits to the attack.
It was the final home game for seniors Copeland, Montelius, Rigg, Stipe and McKenzie Bentz.
Looking ahead
Sequim was set to play at Port Angeles in the school’s annual “Pink It Up” game — a breast cancer awareness event — on May 10; results were not available at press time.
The Wolves cap the regular season with two away games, May 12 at Kingston and May 16 at North Kitsap (Poulsbo).
The West Central District tournament is set for May 20-21 at Sprinker Fields in Tacoma, with the top six teams from the 16-team tournament advancing to the state 2A tourney.
The state 2A fastpitch tourney is scheduled for May 27-28 at Carlon Park in Selah.
