Former Peninsula College Pirate Dean Gaynor, who now plays professional soccer in Ireland, helped his Drogheda United team defeat Longford Town 6-0 on May 21 as the Drogs began the defense of their EA Sports Cup title in spectacular fashion. Gaynor was part of the 2011 Pirate team that won the West Division and placed third in the NWAACC tournament. He scored 14 goals and contributed 10 assists for Peninsula that season before returning to Ireland to play for DUFC. The Drogs play in the Premier Division of the League of Ireland. Gaynor scored the first goal in the rout over Longford.
