Fundraisers look to maintain, expand skate park

The Sequim Youth Skatepark Foundation held another fundraiser at the Carrie Blake Community Park Skatepark last Saturday, June 25.

“The smile factor was beyond belief!” said the nonprofit’s president Mark Simpson.

The turnout was about 200 people and raised more than $1,400.

The nonprofit looks to maintain the current park, built in the 1990s, and expand it with a goal of $1 million. They’ve raised more than $20,000 so far.

Several athletic competitions were held, along with a raffle that included a Lib Tech snowboard as grand prize. The Foundation had many other donors from around the Pacific Northwest.
