Following a tough loss to Kingston earlier in the week, the Lady Wolves (1-8, 5-10) looked like they had a win in the bag on Friday against the Olympic Trojans.

But a strong fourth quarter from the Trojans and a dry spell for Sequim in Poulsbo led to a 52-42 loss on Jan. 22 and a three-game losing streak.

Sequim and the Trojans were tied up at 9-9 at the end of the first quarter, with Sequim’s Alisha Grasser scoring four points and Olympic’s Katie Campana five and Danielle Monzon with four.

Adrienne Haggerty helped the Wolves build a six-point lead in the second quarter scoring six points 22-16, but in the third quarter Monzon recorded eight points for the Trojans to cut Sequim’s lead to five. Campan took over for Olympic in the fourth, scoring 13 points including three-3-pointers to help the Trojans rack up 21 points to Sequim’s seven.

Haggerty finished with 19 points and Jordan Miller with eight to lead the Wolves.

Earlier in the week, Kingston freshman Lily Beaulieu helped the Buccaneers blow out the Wolves 75-44 in Sequim on Jan. 19. She scored 12 points of her 31 in the first quarter to put the Bucs up 30-5.

The Wolves tried to recover in the second quarter with a mixed attack of three 3-pointers from McKenzie Bentz, Haggerty and Miller but Beaulieu continued shooting sharply with 10 points in the third quarter and nine in the fourth. Kingston’s Avy Hiner finished with 12 and Lily Eckert 11.

Sequim’s Ella Christiansen scored 12 points, Miller 11 and Haggerty 9.

Sequim finishes its regular season all at home with games on Jan. 26 against North Mason (0-8, 5-11), Friday, Jan. 29, against Port Angeles (7-1, 14-2), Monday, Feb. 1, against Bainbridge (2-6, 3-9), and Tuesday, Feb. 2, against North Kitsap (6-3, 9-7).
