Sequim’s bowling crew dropped a pair of league matches last week — one to a perennial state contender and another to a cross-Peninsula rival.
On Nov. 13, Port Angeles proved to be too tough on what amounted to be a home match for both clubs as they edged Sequim 5-2 at Laurel Lanes in Port Angeles.
Sequim started strong and took game one behind a solid 160 from Skylar Krzyworz and 126 from Kimberly Heintz, but Port Angeles managed to win the second game and both Baker-format games.
The Roughriders, in their second year of competition, got a big game from Abby Robinson, who averaged 185 for the match.
Nikoline Updike paced the Wolves in the second game with 136 pins.
Four days later and back at Laurel Lanes, the 1A Klahowya Eagles showed why they are a league powerhouse with a 6-1 victory over the Wolves.
Sophomore Jessica Hedahl had a 421-pin series — including 227 pins in game one — and freshman Salina Stroup had 344 pins in two games to lead the Silverdale club.
Klahowya won 821-563 and 723-590 in regular games and took the second Baker game 148-101.
Sequim, who managed a point with a 122-114 win in the first Baker game, was led by Heintz’s 266-pin series (117-149). Morgan Kayser added 118 pins in game one and 126 in game two.
Sequim was scheduled to bowl at Bremerton on Nov. 21 — result were not available at press time.
The Wolves host North Mason on Nov. 30 and get a rematch with Port Angeles on Dec. 4.
