Sequim’s Wolves got their second win of the season last week, knocking off the East Jefferson Rivals 86-72 at the home confines of the Sequim YMCA on Oct. 9.
Annie Ellefson and Ava Shinkle both earned two individual event wins and the Wolves (2-2) swept the three relays in the victory.
Ellefson won the 200 free in 2:23 and the 100 breaststroke in just under 1:20 — edging out East Jefferson’s Akeyla Behrenfield by less than a second — while Shinkle added wins in the 100 butterfly in 1:08 and 500 free in 6:11.
“It was a great meet with very even competition between each team,” SHS co-head coach Sarah Thorson said. “All girls fought hard for the duration of the meet.”
Melisa Nelson posted a win in the 200 individual medley (2:42) by nearly 11 seconds.
Sequim’s 200 free relay of Naomi Beglyakov, Violet Phillips, Tricia Day and Addison Long won their event in 2:20, while Ellefson, Nelson, Shinkle and Keira Morey teamed up to take top honors in the 200medley and 400 free relays.
Behrenfield (100 free) and Ursula Schmidt (100 backstroke) picked up individual wins for East Jefferson.
