Sequim opened their season with a tough draw, falling 7-0 on the road to 3A powerhouse Bainbridge on March 13.
Sydney Thomas-Harris fared the best among the Wolves, pushing No. 3 Spartan Ruby Morrow in a 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) loss, while Bainbridge’s Elle Schuchman and Izzy Wallin prevailed in straight sets over SHS’s top singles players Caleigh Thompson and Tiffany Lam.
Sequim’s No. 2 doubles team of Kendall Day and Kristine Prorok managed to take five points off Bainbridge’s Cece Combs and Serena Ninshaw.
The Wolves (1-1) rebounded with a 7-0 sweep of Bremerton in their home opener on March 14.
Thompson paced the team with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles over Helen Rode, whole Lam earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Kali Liu, and Thomas-Harris added a 6-0, 6-3 win over Akina Pritchard.
Sequim’s top doubles team of Amara Gonzalez and Sydney Hegtvedt didn’t lose a point in a sweep of Bremerton’d Allison and Ileah Tang.
Also earning wins were SHS doubles teams of Day and Prorok, Azlyn Judd and Keira Morey, and Sophia Greenleaf and Sasha Yada.
Looking ahead
Sequim was scheduled to play at North Kitsap on March 18; results were not available at press time.
The Wolves host North Mason on March 20 and are at Kingston on March 21.
