June 5 was the opening day of league play for the Sequim Senior Softball Grey Wolves.
The softball team/teams play at Carrie Blake Park with more than 40 members, men and women, and are open to new players.
Players must be at least 50 years for women and 55 for men. All skill levels are accepted.
“We are out there to enjoy ourselves, support one another with encouragement as well as coaching for those who wish it,” David Underwood, Sequim Senior Softball Grey Wolves president, said.
This summer, the Grey Wolves host a team from Victoria, B.C. during the July 4 weekend with doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday at Carrie Blake Park. The Grey Wolves tournament team, Brock’s Crocs, will participate in several tournaments in Washington, including the Washington State Senior Games held in Shelton and the Olympic Peninsula Senior Games in Port Angeles.
As with last year, the Olympic Peninsula Senior Softball Games are played here in Sequim this August. Brock’s Crocs took gold last year and hope to repeat in 2014.
New players, fans of the game and anyone who wants to watch, play or support the local team is invited to Carrie Blake Park at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
