Gymnastics: Combined prep squad opens season with win

Joined by athletes from Sequim and Crescent, the Port Angeles High gymnastics squad is off to a strong start.

Sequim’s Emma Sharp was third in all-around scoring (27.95 points and fellow Wolf Lesea Pfeffer was fourth (27.30) as the combined prep squad beat Kingston 137.6-111.15 on Dec. 21.

Port Angeles Anne Edwards was second in all-around scoring with 28.45 points.

Sharp was second on vault (8.2), third on beam (6.85), fourth on floor (7.9) and seventh on bars (4.7).

Pfeffer, who qualified for the state 1A/2A/3A meet last season, was second on beam (7.35), tied for third on floor (8.0) and tied for fourth on vault (7.9).

Sequim’s Danica Pierson, a freshman, placed fifth on bars (5.15).

The Port Angeles squad is back in action Jan. 5 at the Sehome Invitational, and Jan. 12 at the WOW! Invitational in Auburn.
