Three Sequim gymnasts are moving on to the district tournament after posting strong scores at a seven-team, 2A/3A sub-district meet held Feb. 8 in Tumwater.
Qualifying in all-around is Susannah Sharp, who placed six at the sub-district meet with 31.125 points. She was fourth on the floor exercise (8.75 points), seventh on bars (6.80) and eighth on vault (8.475).
Teammate Lucy Spelker also qualified for districts with an all-around score of 28.725 points. She was fourth on vault (8.70) and sixth on floor (8.425).
Sequim’s Madison Ripley also qualified for districts, on the vault and the floor exercise.
With 115.25 points, Port Angeles placed third and advanced as a team to districts, for the first time since 2017. Port Angeles’ Scarlett Sullivan qualified in the all-around with a fifth place score of 31.25 points.
The district tourney is set for Thursday, Feb. 15, at Metropolitan Gymnastics in Kent.
Top gymnasts move on to the 1A/2A/3A state gymnastics meet set for Feb. 23-24 at Sammamish High School in Bellevue.
