A trio of Sequim gymnasts are headed to the state prep finals this week after earning qualifying scores at the West Central District 2A/3A meet on Feb. 16 in Puyallup.
SHS junior Susannah Sharp qualified for state in three events, scoring 8.8 on the floor exercise, an 8.65 mark on the vault and a 6.6 on bars.
Senior Kori Miller qualified in two events — the vault, with an 8.475 mark, and a 7.0 score on bars at districts — while freshman Lucy Spelker qualified on the vault with a 8.35 district score.
The state meet is set for Feb. 23-25 at Sammamish High School.
Sequim teammate Amara Brown capped her season competing in all four events at districts, scoring a 7.25 on beam, 7.05 on vault, 5.1 on the floor exercise and 3.8 on bars. Sequim’s Madison Ripley also competed in all events, scoring a 7.20 on vault, 6.325 on floor, 5,25 on beam and 3.95 on bars.
Port Angeles’ Maddie Adams and Chloe Notari, teammates with Sequim gymnasts during the regular season, also competed at districts. Adams scored 6.40 on the beam and 6.225 on the floor while Notari scored 4.20 points on both bars and beam.
