Gymnastics: Wolves earn district berths

All five Sequim gymnasts are headed to the West Central District meet this week after posting qualifying scores at a 2A/3A sub-district meet held in Puyallup on Feb. 9.

Sequim’s Susannah Sharp took eighth place for the all-around with a score of 31.30 and is headed to districts competing in all events.

Teammates Kori Miller and Lucy Spelker both qualified for districts in all-around competition, while Amara Brown and Madison Ripley qualified for districts in all four events.

Sequim took fourth place as a team with a score of 133.30.

Also heading to districts are three Port Angeles athletes — teammates with Sequim gymnasts during the regular season — after posting event qualifying scores. Waverly Mead will compete on the floor and vault, Maddie Adams on the beam and floor, and Chloe Notari on the beam and bars.

The district meet is set for Thursday, Feb. 16, at the Toys R Us Gymnastics Center in Puyallup.

Top teams and individuals advance from districts to the state 2A/3A meet, set for Feb. 23-25 at Sammamish High School.
