Gymnasts medal at Seattle ‘Battle’

 

Klahhane Gymnastics athletes brought back a total of 31 All-Around and event medals from The Battle in Seattle, held Feb. 21-13 at the Washington Convention Center that saw 1,400 participants.

 

In Level 3, all Klahhane team members placed in the All-Around competition in their session. In the Junior A age group, Kori Miller, Jolene Vaara and Susannah Sharp were first, third and fourth with scores of 35.45, 33.70 and 33.65. In the Junior B group, Morgan Mattix was second (35.025 points) and Lainy Vig was sixth (34.10).

 

Anne Edwards led the Level 4 team with a seventh place All-Around finish (34.40 points) in the Junior B age group. Zoe Smithson (34.20 points) and Gracie Sharp (32.75) also competed in Junior B group.

Emma Sharp received a 33.575-point All-Around score in the Senior A age group.

 

The Xcel Bronze and Silver team brought home eight All-Around and individual medals. Emerson Wright led the group with a second place All-Around finish in Junior B competition, scoring 35.925 points. In addition, Wright took first on vault (8.8 points), second on uneven bars (9.0) and fourth on floor exercise (9.35). Emily Silva took first place on uneven bars (9.3 points) in the Junior B group and received the Judges Award for “Best Continuity and Flow on Bars” in her division. In the Senior A age group, Elizabeth Sweet took fifth in All-Around scoring with individual event medals for second on floor exercise (9.3) and third on balance beam (9.0).

 

In the Bronze division, Lily Robertson received an 8.75-point score on balance beam, good for fourth place, and took fifth on uneven bars (8.70).

 

In the Gold division, Laura Rooney led the team with a fifth place All-Around score (33.5 points) and three fourth place events medals — vault (8.4), uneven bars (8.55)l and floor exercise (8.45) in the Senior B age group. Aiesha Mathis turned in an 8.65-point performance on balance beam and received an 8.9 on uneven bars, good for third and fourth place medals in the Junior B age group. Ennisa Albin picked up third and fifth place medals on balance beam (8.875 points) and uneven bars (8.475) in the Senior B division.

 

The Xcel Platinum team brought back nine medals, led by Cassii Middlestead. Competing in the Junior B age group, Middlestead placed third in All-Around scoring (34.70 points) and took an event medal on every event, placing first on uneven bars (8.75), third on balance beam (8.9), fourth on vault (8.6) and fifth on floor exercise (8.45). Danica Miller took fourth for All-Around scoring (34.20 points), earning a first place on floor exercise (9.1) and fifth on vault (8.575). Kianna Miller, competing in the Junior A age group, placed fifth in All-Around scoring (32.975 points), taking two fourth place event medals on balance beam (8.3) and floor exercise (8.875).

 

Also competing and receiving participation medals were Amber Dietzman, Christina Lewis, Sydney Miner, Cassidy Tamburro, Maizie Tucker and Ellie Turner in Xcel Divisions and Dylan Baerman, Nora Ferre, Elena Gonzales, Kinsley Henrickson and Taryn Johnson.
