Sixteen gymnasts represented Klahhane Gymnastics at the Charity Choice Invitational at the Tacoma Trade and Convention Center on Feb. 6-8.
Competing in the Level 6 Junior A division, Sequim’s Emma Sharp took a bronze medal on balance beam (9.05 points) and finished ninth in all-around scoring (34.850). Anne Edwards, Zoe Smithson and Sequim’s Gracie Sharp also performed well in the Level 6 competition, coaches said, with each athlete receiving a state qualifying score.
Morgan Mattix and a trio of Sequim competitors — Jolene Vaara, Susannah Sharp and Kori Miller — competed in the Level 4 competition. Miller led the group with a silver medal in all-around scoring (34.30 points) and earned an individual bronze on floor exercise (8.95). Mattix finished sixth in the all-around rankings with a score of 34.125.
Cindy Liang was the top competitor for Klahhane in Level 3 competition taking second on vault (9.275 points) and eighth in all-around scoring (34.80 points). Samantha Robbins scored 9.00 on floor exercise for fifth place and Taryn Johnson was eighth on vault with a 9.05. Also competing were Elena Gonzalez, Dylan Baermann and Kathryn Jones, Sequim’s Kinzley Henrickson and Julia Jack.
At the end of the meet more than $15,000 was donated to various charities. Klahhane Gymnastics represented the Cure JM Foundation.
The next competition for Klahhane’s Level 4 and 6 teams is the Battle in Bellevue, set for Feb. 21-22.
The Level 3 Team will participate in the At the Hop Meet in Sumner on Feb. 28.
