Learn to row, row, row your boats

Interested in learning to row crew? The Olympic Peninsula Rowing Club invites members of the public, ages 12 and older, to its third-annual Learn to Row Day on Saturday, June 2.

Weather permitting, from 8 a.m.-11 a.m., rowing club members will introduce the public to the sport of rowing at the club’s boathouse on the north side of Ediz Hook in Port Angeles.

Tour the boathouse, receive instruction on proper rowing machine use and get in a four-person sculling boat or eight-person sweep boat.

Club president John Halberg notes that the rowing club has several members from Sequim.

Participants are encouraged to dress in comfortable layers, wearing river sandals or old tennis shoes which can get wet since participants get in water up to their knees to enter the boats.

There will be discounts offered for upcoming classes which begin June 9 and July 7, and rowing hats for sale by the club’s youth rowing members.
