Local squads shine at Dungeness Cup

The Dungeness Cup celebrated its fourth year in fine fashion, with 54 teams from across three regions taking part in 13 divisions of play at the three-day tourney, held under clear blue skies at the Albert Haller Playfields in Sequim, July 31-Aug. 2

No problems filling this Cup in 2015.

Local squads made their mark on the Cup, as Storm King FC earned three division championships and three runner-up finishes.

Storm King GU13 topped the U-13 Girls Division with a 4-0 mark — including a 2-0 overtime win against West Narrows GU13 02 Blue — and finished the tourney with a 23-to-1 goals-against mark.

The Storm King BU16 99 squad (3-0-1) won the High School Boys division, outscoring opponents 7-2. Their younger counterparts in the U-14 boys division — the Storm King 01 Vipers — went undefeated at 4-0 with 17 goals to just three against in winning the division title.

Storm King’s GU17 PSA team (2-2) took second and Storm King GU14 01 team (1-2) was third in the Girls High School/Silver Division.

The Storm King BU15 00 team was second in the U-15 boys division, going 1-2-1.

SJS BU10 Storm King United earned a second-place finish, earning a win and tie in four games in the U-10 Boys Silver division.

Storm King BU12 Lightning took third overall in U-12 division play, going 2-2 and scoring 18 goals.
