Men’s basketball: P.C. men edge Everett in OT

 

In the end, 40 minutes weren’t enough to settle this showdown.

Recently rated the top team in the conference, the Peninsula men outscored the host Everett Trojans 17-12 in overtime to come away with a key 101-96 win on Jan. 16.

Salim Gloyd scored 30 points and was one of four Pirates in double figures in rebounds with 11 as Peninsula (3-1 in conference play, 12-5 overall) outlasted the upset-minded Everett squad.

Other Pirates with double-doubles were Xavier Bazile (23 points, 12 rebounds) and Djuan Smith (15 points, 12 rebounds). TreShawn King Dunbar had eight points and eight assists while Arnold Anderson had 12 rebounds and four steals.

Connor Donaldson led Everett (3-1, 10-6) with 30 points, including six 3-pointers, and teammate David Ware had a triple double (10 points, 10 rebounds, 15 assists).

Peninsula is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 19, at Olympic (Bremerton). The Rangers are 0-4 in NWAACC play, 1-12 overall.
