At this stage of the postseason, coaches across the sports spectrum have a mantra: Survive and advance.

That’s exactly what No. 1-ranked Peninsula did Saturday, getting just enough to knock off visiting Edmonds.

Erick Urzua knocked home the game-winner at the 70-minute mark and Peninsula held on for a 2-1 victory in the NWAACC quarterfinals Saturday, lifting its squad to their sixth Final Four appearance in seven seasons.

Austin Portch got Edmonds on the scoreboard early, knocking in a corner kick from Miguel Medina at the 10-minute mark.

Peninsula responded eight minutes later after Ash Apollon was fouled by Triton keeper Arturo Oberto. Peninsula scoring star Alex Martinez knocked home the penalty kick for a 1-1 tie.

It stayed that way into the second half until Caio Maciel found Urzua for a score about halfway through the second half.

Peninsula’s Angel Guerra had seven saves in goal for the victory; Martinez’s 27th score of the season leads the NWAACC.

This wasn’t the prettiest of games we played this year but we did enough to still get it done," Peninsula coach Andrew Chapman said. "We played sloppy in the first half, giving up an early goal … (but) the guys answered well."

Peninsula advances to the Final Four, set for Nov. 16-17 at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila. There, they’ll meet a familiar foe in Walla Walla — the team P.C. knocked off of the conference championship in 2012.

The Pirates (19-0-2) are ranked eighth in the nation and No. 1 in the NWAACC. Walla Walla’s Warriors (14-1-3) are ranked No. 3 in the NWAACC. The teams square off at 6 p.m. on Nov. 16, with Clark (18-2-1) squaring off against Highline (15-6-1) at 3:30 p.m. in the other semifinal.

The championship game is slated for 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 17.
