There’s no place like home.
Unfortunately for Peninsula, they were a bus and ferry ride from the friendly confines of the Pirate gymnasium.
Host Bellevue jumped out to a 15-point lead by halftime and made it stand in a 75-60 conference win Saturday night, evening the Pirates NWAACC record at 1-1 and overall mark to 4-9.
"(We’re) very disappointed in the effort," Peninsula coach Peter Stewart said. "(We) just didn’t show up to play."
Dion Serras led the Pirates with 10 points in just 11 minutes of play while teammate Chidi Antoinne had eight points and 12 rebounds in the loss.
The Pirates had trouble controlling the ball, committing 23 turnovers that led to 26 Bellevue points. Bellevue forced Jesse Bean, the Pirates’ leading scorer, to just three-of-10 shooting.
Sam Cartmell led Bellevue (2-1 in conference, 13-3 overall) with 23 points.
Peninsula hits the court Jan. 14 at home against Olympic College and travels to Skagit Valley (Mount Vernon) on Jan. 17.
