Peninsula marathon nears capacity

With less than six weeks remaining, registration for the ninth North Olympic Discovery Marathon is filling up quickly, says race director Larry Little.

The Therapeutic Associates-sponsored marathon includes a full, 26.2-mile race, a half-marathon, Olympic Medical Center 5k and 10k on June 5, plus a youth race on June 4. Marathon and half-marathon registrations are nearly full.

In 2010, the event sold out in mid-May. This year, registration numbers already have exceeded existing spots for certain categories.

“It appears that the race may sell out completely by the time the price goes up on May 15,” Little said.

“The price for the event tiers up three different times during registration as an incentive to register early. It appears that the race may not have any spots left for the full marathon or half-marathon by mid-May.”

The marathon and half-marathon run from Sequim to Port Angeles along the Olympic Discovery Trail.

“We still have space in the 5 and 10k and the relays. Registration is still open for the full and half; however, your shirt size may no longer be available,” Little said.
