Prep Football: Wolves fall 56-3 in districts to Chehalis’ W.F. West

Going up against a powerful 9-1 team in W.F. West (Chehalis), the Sequim Wolves lost 56-3 in their district playoff matchup Saturday.

W.F. West went up 28-o after one quarter and 56-0 by the half. The Bearcats’ Gage Brumfield, who is committed to play for Eastern Washington University, passed 16-for-20 for 225 yards and five touchdowns, and ran for 74 yards and two touchdowns, all in the first half.

The Daily Chronicle reports W.F. West went up 28-0 before Brumfield threw an incompletion.

The Bearcats also recovered three fumbles in the first half while on defense, which all turned into touchdowns within three plays.

Sequim got on the board in the fourth quarter with a 37-yard field goal from Andrew Keeler.

For the game, W.F. West had 23 first downs, and Sequim five. The Bearcats tallied 438 total yards, and the Wolves 84.

W.F. West opens state against the Olympic Trojans (8-2), who defeated Washougal 42-6 on Nov. 8 in districts. The Trojans defeated Sequim 28-7 on Oct. 19.

Sequim is now 0-2 against W.F. West all time, falling 52-21 in the first round of the 2A state tournament in 2011.

The Wolves finish the season at 5-5, their first .500 season in three years.
