Here’s a recap of Sequim High’s spring sports team’s first week:
Golf
The Wolves’ boys and girls golf teams opened their seasons with wins on March 11 at the Gold Mountain Golf Course in Bremerton.
Sequim’s girls won 217-240 with Kendra Dodson shooting a 50, Sara German 53, Ella Hood 56, and Raimey Brewer 58. The boys won 197-241 but individual scores were unavailable.
Boys and girls lost to Port Angeles at the Peninsula Golf Club on March 13 in poor weather. The girls lost 220-225 with Dodson shooting a 51 and Brewer a 55 for Sequim. The Roughriders were led by Mia Neff with 50.
For the boys, Sequim’s Adrian Aragon shot a 5-over-par-41 to lead all players, but Port Angeles won 173-205 in nine holes. Cody Dunscomb shot a 52, Joey Kang 54 and Levi Breithaupt 58. The teams were set to travel to North Kitsap on March 18 and will host North Kitsap on March 20.
Fastpitch
The Forks girls softball team scored a total of 37 runs in a doubleheader sweep of the Wolves in Sequim. Forks won the first game 19-1 and the second 18-9.
Sequim’s Mia Kirner hit a home run and went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBIs in the two games. Rylie Doig went 4-for-4 with four runs scored and an RBI, and Ava Ritter had a hit and an RBI in game two. Sequim plays in Kingston on March 20, and North Mason on March 24.
Baseball
The Wolves held a scrimmage on March 15, and they were set to travel to Kingston on March 18 to open their regular season. They’ll host Kingston on March 19 and Nathan Hale on March 22.
Boys soccer
The Wolves soccer squad opened its season with a 3-1 loss on March 14 in Bremerton. They were set to host Kingston on March 18 and North Mason at 7 p.m. Friday, March 21.
Girls Tennis, Track
Sequim girls tennis opens its first week of season play on the road in Kingston on March 18, North Mason on March 20, and Olympic March 21. They host North Kitsap on Monday, March 24. The boys and girls track teams host Port Angeles and Kingston at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 20.
