Railroad Bridge Run returns to Sequim

he next Run the Peninsula Series race will take place Saturday in Sequim with the annual Railroad Bridge 5K/10K.

The race begins at 9:30 a.m. Approximately 350 runners and walkers are expected to participate.

The event is put on by the Port Angeles Marathon Association, which also managed the North Olympic Discovery Marathon in June in Port Angeles. Title sponsors are the Peninsula Daily News and the Sequim Gazette, while the presenting sponsors are the Olympic Medical Center and Sound Community Bank. Proceeds go to several groups, including the Peninsula Trails Coalition, which builds and maintains the trail.

The event will begin at Railroad Bridge Park with competitors heading west on the Olympic Discovery Trail. There will be a 5K and a 10K turnaround point where the runners will head back east toward Railroad Bridge Park.

The event has the right of way on local roads. Drivers should be prepared to stop at the following intersections from 9:30 a.m. until about 11:30 a.m.: Heath Road and Sawmill Road; Runnion Road and Sawmill Road; Carlsborg Road and Olympic Discovery Trail; and Kitchen-Dick Road and Olympic Discovery Trail.
