RTP series continues with Saturday’s Larry Scott Trail races

About 400 runners and walkers are anticipated to hit the racecourse for the 2022 Larry Scott Trail 5K-10K-Half Marathon Run Walk in Port Townsend, on Saturday, Oct. 15.

Part of the Run the Peninsula series, this fourth-annual event features out-and-back courses on the Larry Scott Trail and Olympic Discovery Trail.

The half marathon starts at 8:30 a.m. while the 5k and 10k races start at 9:30 a.m., each starting at the Port of Port Townsend Boat Haven trailhead.

There is still space available for participants to register; sign up at runthepeninsula.com. Those interested in volunteering are encouraged to email to rtp@runthepeninsula.com.

The Larry Scott Trail races are put on by the Port Angeles Marathon Association, the same group that manages the North Olympic Discovery Marathon in June in Port Angeles.

Proceeds from this event go to several local organizations including the Peninsula Trails Coalition who build and maintain the trail.

Title sponsors include the Sequim Gazette and Peninsula Daily News. Presenting sponsors are Jefferson Healthcare and Olympic Medical Center.
