Sequim 14s battle, fall at tourney

Sequim's 14-year-old Babe Ruth all-stars had their collective hands full at the North Washington tournament in Port Angeles last week, falling in all four games and missing a chance for a regional tourney berth.

Sequim’s 14-year-old Babe Ruth all-stars had their collective hands full at the North Washington tournament in Port Angeles last week, falling in all four games and missing a chance for a regional tourney berth.

Sequim opened the tourney with a 10-0 loss to Lynden on July 21.

The local nine dropped a 12-4 decision to Skagit Elite on July 22 and a 20-3 game against their neighbors, the Olympic Junior Babe Ruth (Port Angeles) squad, on July 24.

Sequim wrapped up the tourney with a 15-5 loss to Moses Lake on Saturday.

Sequim team members include: Mason Barrett, Austin Clement, Jessie Daily, Omar Flores, Mike Holland, Nick Johnston, Austin Law, Fredrico Serranos, Shane Starks, Taylor Washburn and Magnus Williams.

Olympic went 3-1 in the preliminary round before falling 10-1 to Burlington in Sunday’s semifinal.

Burlington topped Lynden 9-8 in eight innings to advance to the Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament in Moscow, Idaho, beginning Aug. 3.
