The Sequim Equestrian Team capped its regular season with the third and final district meet, held March 24-26 in Spanaway.
Sequim captured 19 top-10 finishes, including a second-place finish in Drill Team Freestyle Fours by Sydney Balkan, Emelie Furste, Amy Tucker and Miranda Williams. Balkan also placed second in Steer Daubing and teammate Lilly Thomas took third in In-Hand Trail.
The district meet saw about 100 competitors from 10 teams from Bellingham to Vancouver.
Several Sequim athletes are headed to the state meet in May. Balkan and Tucker earned a a district gold medal in Cattle Sorting while the Drill Team Freestyle Fours team took silver. Grace Niemeyer took bronze in Jumping and Balkan qualified for state in Individual Flags.
The state meet is May 11-14 in Moses Lake, where Sequim competes against about 60 teams from across Washington.
