There is plenty of bite left in this pack of Wolves.

Despite a loss to North Kitsap earlier in the week, Sequim kept pace with the Olympic League leaders with two weeks left in the regular season. Sequim tallied a blowout win against Klahowya on April 20 and an extra-inning nail-biter victory against Olympic on April 22.

The Wolves scored the winning run against Olympic in the bottom of the eighth on an infield error for a 10-9 victory.

Jake Hudson picked up his fourth win in two weeks, all in relief. Isaac Yamamoto went 4-for-4 with four runs scored, Tyler Campbell drove in three runs and Weston Royall had two hits.

“(We were) thrilled to get a win out of it,” Sequim coach Dave Ditlefsen said of Olympic. “Every opportunity to pull away is huge.”

Olympic held leads of 5-1 and 6-3 before Sequim plated five runs in the fifth inning.

“(This team) has a real good confidence,” Ditlefsen said of his Wolves. “They were calm and believed in themselves and were able to come back from being down.”

On April 20, Sequim spotted the Klahowya Eagles three first-inning runs before erupting for six runs in the second and 10 runs in the fourth to top Klahowya in a five-inning, mercy-rule-shortened, 16-5 win.

Sequim’s Drew Rickerson and Preston McFarlen had two hits each, as Yamamoto earned the win on the mound. Klahowya’s Joe Valley had two home runs.

On April 18, North Kitsap showed Sequim some muscle by plating eight first inning runs in a 12-6 win in Poulsbo. Alex Smith doubled twice and got the win on the mound for the Vikings. Sequim’s Royall homered and drove in two while Rickerson was 2-for-4 with a double.

The Wolves host Kingston in a key league match-up on April 27, then play at North Mason on April 29. Sequim caps the regular season against Port Angeles on May 2.
