The weather held out just long enough for a win.
The Sequim High boys golf squad got its first regular match win of the season last week in fine fashion, topping Bremerton 66-50 at The Cedars at Dungeness March 20.
Taylor Thorson took top medalist honors with 16 Stableford points, followed closely by teammates Colby Rude (15) and Sean Lindstedt (13). Chad Quinet added 12 Stableford points while Brendon Gilles had 10 and Bryce Gange had eight.
Michael Berline and Nick Earls led the Knights with 13 points each.
On the girls’ side, Phoebe Haglin tied for medalist honors but the Wolves dropped an 88-69 decision to Port Angeles March 17 at Peninsula Golf Club in P.A.
Haglin and Roughrider ace Cara Herzog each scored 26 Stableford points, while Sequim’s Zoei Zbaraschuk was third with 24 points.
Other top Sequim scorers included Kim Duce (13 points), Lisa Doan (four points) and Medea Bernsten (two points).
The Wolves are in action March 27 at Bremerton before their spring break; they return from the break to host Port Angeles April 10.
