Decked out in their favorite team’s colors, these fans were anything but blue.
A throng of supporters helped one of the newest groups of Sea Hawkers — official Seattle Seahawks fan clubs — throw a 12th Man party Saturday.
The Dungeness Bay Sea Hawkers welcomed Hawks fans of all ages last weekend with a barbecue, games, drawings and more, plus a visit from the Wheels of Boom Car Club on July 11 at the Sequim Elks Lodge.
On hand was Robert Brown and his son Sean, both of Whidbey Island, showing off the “Fan”bulance, an ambulance converted into Seahawks-laden fan spectacle.
Brown has a special connection with the “Fan”bulance: he worked as an EMT and his wife Sherri as a paramedic on Whidbey Island, he drove the vehicle in the early 2000s. The vehicle was retired from service and donated to Big Brothers Big Sister, where it was refurbished with the Seahawks’ swag and then auctioned off. Brown’s father-in-law won the raffle, one that Brown said raised about $37,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Now, Brown gets to tour the area and visit events like the Dungeness Bay Sea Hawkers’ and other Hawks-inspired celebrations. “There was usually a patient here,” Brown said, pointing to a stretcher in the back of the vehicle, “not a barbecue (grill).”
The group meets at 6 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month at the Bell Creek Bar and Grill, 707 E. Washington St. For more information, e-mail dungenessbayseahawkers@gmail.com, see dungenessbayseahawkers.weebly.com or find the group on Facebook.
