The Wolves rocked a pair of Olympic League 3A opponents last week, downing North Kitsap 18-0 on April 6 and Olympic 13-2 two days later.

“We started off cold (but) we’ve got a pretty awesome lineup,” Sequim coach Mel Hendrickson said after watching his team dismantle the Olympic Trojans on Thursday.

The Trojans touched up Sequim starter Demiree Briones for eight hits and a couple of runs, but the Wolves had a 4-1 lead early and jumped out to a 12-1 lead after three innings.

The heart of Sequim’s order continues to wear out league hurlers, as Maddy Zbaraschuk had a home run and triple in her perfect 2-for-2 day, Lea Hopson homered and Demiree Briones went 2-for-3.

Cindy Miller added a double, Amariah Clift scored twice, Lauren Hendrickson was 2-for-3 and Kinzie

Winfield walked twice.

Briones struck out four and walked two in her five innings of work, earning her seventh win of the campaign.

“I was glad to see a little bit of pressure (from the opposing team),” coach Hendrickson said, after the Wolves played three consecutive three-inning, mercy rule-shortened blowouts.

“We’re just hitting the ball really hard, top to bottom,” he said.

Sequim was slated to play rival North Mason at home on April 12 – results were unavailable at press time.

Wolves’ bats batter Vikings

The Wolves are at Kingston on April 14. They host Klahowya on April 20 and Port Angeles on April 21 before traveling to Bremerton on April 23.

Larger school? Sure. But the bigger bats are in this dugout.

Sequim batters ripped North Kitsap pitching for 11 hits in an 18-0 blowout in Poulsbo on April 6, a game shortened to three innings thanks to a league mercy rule.

Briones, Clift and Chelsea Winfield each drove in four runs. Briones and Winfield had two doubles apiece.

Hopson went 3-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and four steals.

Briones picked up a relatively easy no-hitter, tossing all three innings and striking out eight of the nine hitters she faced.
