St. John gets an ace
Larry St. John of Sequim sank his second lifetime hole-in-one last week, acing hole No. 11 at The Cedars at Dungeness on April 16. St. John used an 8-iron to ace the 128-yard hole. Gil Goodman, Ronald Grant and Jeff Upchurch, all from Sequim, witnessed the feat.
Open horse show set
The County Mounty’s 4-H Horse Club is hosting an Open Schooling Show on Saturday, May 10, at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Port Townsend. Classes start at 10 a.m. and are $4 each for early bird price if post marked by May 5, with an additional $2 per class after May 5 and day of show. Stalls available on first-come, first-served basis with a $20 refundable stall fee if left clean. High Point prizes awarded for each division for qualifying classes. Join the walk
Olympic Peninsula Explorers invite the public to join them on a walk of the Spruce Railroad Trail walk at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 26. This is a 6-kilometer (3.7-mile) or a 12-kilometer (7.5-mile) walk. Signup is at the Fairmount Restaurant, 1127 Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.
There are restrooms at the trail head. No pets are permitted on this walk. This free walk is open to all. Maps are available at sign-up point. Call George Christensen at 697-2172.
Golf Merchants League forming
The Cedars at Dungeness’ Merchants League is forming. The league is composed of teams representing local area merchants and meets every Thursday for a nine-hole competition beginning at 5:30 p.m. Dates run from May 8-Sept. 11 and include two qualifying periods of eight weeks each and a three-week playoff. Team sponsorship is $100; weekly greens fees and competition fees are $25 per person.
Each team is comprised of a minimum of four and a maximum of 10 players per roster, with four players designated weekly. Competition is head-to-head. Established handicaps through USGA are not required but will be established during play for league participation.

Hoops summer camp set for Sequim
Directors of Advantage Basketball Camps host their second annual camp at Sequim High School this summer, slated for July 14-18. The camp, for boys and girls ages 6-18, covers ball handling and shooting drills, court awareness, defense and more. All skills and abilities are welcomed.
A three-day camp — July 14-16, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. — is $195 for registration before June 14 or $225 after. The fave day camp — July 14-18, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. — is $265 for early registration (by June 14) or $295 after.
The camp is at Sequim High School’s gym, 601 N. Sequim Ave.
