Peninsula ‘Explorers’ set marina walk

The Olympic Peninsula Explorers invite all walkers to join them on their John Wayne Marina walk on Saturday, Nov. 8.

The group meets at QFC, 990B E. Washington St., Sequim, at 8:45 a.m. and will leave promptly at 9 a.m. Sign up is located inside QFC. The walk is 7 kilometers (about 4 miles) or 12 kilometers (about 7.4 miles), with moderate hills on well-groomed trails.

The walk is along country roads and the Olympic Discovery Trail through Carrie Blake Park and beyond. The 12K walk visits the John Wayne Marina; the 7K walk does not go down to the marina, avoiding any moderate hills. The walk is suitable for strollers. Restrooms are at the start and along the way.

For more information, call George Christensen at 473-8398 during the week or 697-2172 on Friday.

Paddlers to meet

The Olympic Peninsula Paddlers club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 12, at the Vern Burton Community Center. The featured program is an August canoe/kayak trip on the Yukon River. The public is invited to attend.

The club also has reserved the William Shore Pool for two hours on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 9, for kayak skills and safety practice. Non-members are welcome, but space is limited. For more information, see www.OlympicPeninsulaPaddlers.com.
