Anglers discuss salmon season
The North Olympic Peninsula chapter of Puget Sound Anglers is hosting a meeting of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife North of Falcon from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 19, to discuss the 2015 salmon seasons. Note this time change: one hour earlier than the group’s normal meeting time. State officials will discuss salmon season dates, catch limits and some new proposals to expand salmon fishing opportunities in 2015. Public input will be taken.

Practice your paddling
The Olympic Peninsula Paddlers club has reserved the William Shore Pool (321 E. Fifth St., Port Angeles) for two hours on March 29 for kayak skills and safety practice.
Non-club members are welcome, but space is limited.

Peninsula College hoops legend dies
Art Ruud, who helped Peninsula College win the Washington Athletic Association of Community Colleges state basketball championship in 1970, died Feb. 28 with his family at his side. He was 64.
Ruud and his teammates from that 1970 Pirate team were inducted into the Northwest Athletic Conference Hall of Fame and the Peninsula College Hall of Fame in January 2014.
Ruud’s accomplishments were recognized at halftime of the Peninsula College men’s basketball game on Feb. 28.
‘Go Big’ at The Cedars
The Cedars at Dungeness hosts its second “Go Big” golf tournament on Saturday, April 4, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start
Tourney format is a one-man scramble over 18 holes, with all holes featuring 8-inch cups.
Cost is $50 per person. Fee includes green fees, range balls and lunch. Divisions are Calloway, gross and net.

Baseball clinic set at SHS
Sequim High School hosts a youth baseball clinic for boys and girls in grades 3-8, from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, March 21, at the high school baseball fields off of Fir Street.
Cost is $20 per player. Fee includes a Wolves baseball cap and a snack.

Youth basketball tourney scheduled in Port Angeles
The Port Angeles Parks & Recreation Department is hosting the April Fools’ Extravaganza Tourney, scheduled for March 28-29, with divisions for boys and girls basketball teams from fifth grade through high school.

Junior golf camp set
The Cedars at Dungeness hosts its annual junior golf camp, March 30-April 1.
The camp, open to boys and girls ages 5-16, is set for 10 a.m.-1 p.m. March 30-31 and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on April 1.
The first two days, instructors teach putting, chipping, full swing and etiquette. The final day is reserved for a tournament, followed by a pizza party and awards presentation.
Cost is $80. Fee includes range balls, pizza party, awards, snacks and a gift. Space is limited to the first 45 sign-ups.
