Mixed martial arts comes to casino

The 7 Cedars Casino, 270756 Highway 101 in Blyn, hosts a mixed martial arts event on Saturday, Nov. 13.

Tickets are $30 for general seating, $65 for reserved seats. The event is open to those 18 and older (ID required), and is a nonsmoking event.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with fights at 7 p.m.

Special guest is Nate Diaz, winner of Ultimate Fighter (season 5).

SHS equestrian team seeks new members

Any Sequim-area students in grades 9-12 who are interested in trying out for the Sequim High School equestrian team are invited to join.

Students who are homeschooled or are high school-aged college students are eligible.

Dodgeball tournament is in P.A.

Halloween Thunder Balls, a dodgeball tournament for six-person, coed teams, is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Entry fee for this Port Angeles Recreation Department event is $50 per team.

Prizes go to the winning team and team with best costumes.

Participants must be 18 or older to play.

Lacrosse benefit game set

The Olympic Mountaineers lacrosse team hosts a benefit lacrosse game on Sunday, Oct. 31, for the Andy Bear Recovery Fund.

The game, pitting players from Sequim and Port Angeles against each other, starts at 2 p.m. at the Agnew Fields, between Port Angeles and Sequim on Old Olympic Highway.

The lacrosse team asks for a $10 donation to play or watch the game.

Former Roughrider lacrosse gear and smoked sea salt will be for sale.

All proceeds will go to the Andy Bear Recovery Fund, with an account set up at KeyBank in Port Angeles.

Bear, who sustained a life-threatening head injury Oct.17, volunteered as assistant coach last year for the Mountaineers. He also played lacrosse for the Port Angeles Roughriders.

SkyRidge hosts Kaps scholarship scramble

The Rick Kaps Scholarship Scramble at SkyRidge Golf Course (7015 Old Olympic Highway) is set for Friday, Nov. 26.

Some of the proceeds from this tournament provides scholarship money for Sequim High School seniors.

Entry fee is $220 per team before Nov. 25 or $240 per team the day of the tournament.

The format is a four-person scramble and the first 20 teams signed up are guaranteed a spot.

Tournament entry includes a meal, T-shirt, KP prizes, range balls and scholarship donation. A shotgun start is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

The event features four-game guarantee.

Gymnastics club hosts open house

Klahhane Gymnastics celebrates the group’s first anniversary in its full-service facility with a public open house on Saturday Oct. 30.

Preschoolers and parents are invited to drop in and participate in an obstacle course and gymnastics activities from 2-3 p.m.

There are free open gym activities for youths ages 6-12 from 4-5:30 p.m.
