Jeffries used a 7-iron to drive the 150-yard hole.

Adult basketball

An adult basketball league is scheduled to start Nov. 2 with games Monday-Thursday.
Games are at Roosevelt Elementary School in Port Angeles.
Coaches for new teams can pick up a registration packet at the recreation office, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Players who do not have a team on which to play can put their names on the "free agent" list by calling 417-4550.

Zumabthon to
benefit local youths
Five local instructors of Zumba – a Latin-influenced style of aerobics – are banding together from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, for a two-hour Zumbathon at the Boy & Girls Clubs’ Carroll C. Kendall Unit, 400 W. Fir St., Sequim.
All proceeds will go for program funding at the club.
Donations are accepted. Participants donating $10 or more receive a Zumba gift. Raffles of Zumba merchandise are scheduled throughout the event.
Registration begins at 1:30 p.m.

Coed volleyball
league set for fall
The city of Port Angeles’ Parks and Recreation Department hosts an adult coed volleyball league beginning Oct. 19.
Team registration packets are available at the city parks and recreation office, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Games are at Stevens Middle School in Port Angeles. Minimum age is high school age if not involved in a fall, winter or spring prep sport.
Players who would like to find a team on which to play may have their names placed on a "free agent" list by calling the recreation office at 417-4550 and leaving their name, address and phone number.
Volleyball tourney
set for Oct. 10
The first Jimmy & Sooke Crabfest Volleyball Tournament is scheduled for Oct. 10 at the Port Angeles High School gymnasium, 304 E. Park Ave.
The event is a 6-on-6 coed tourney. Cost is $120 per team.
Tourney profits help fund Port Angeles High School volleyball.
Registration is limited to the first 16 teams; deadline is Oct. 8.
Prizes include Crabfest dinners and t-shirts.

The Port Angeles Recreation Department hosts the Youth Tipoff Tourney, with divisions for boys and girls basketball teams in fifth grade up through high school on Nov. 7-8.
The tourney includes a four-game guarantee.
Entry is $235 per team.
