Bankert gets first ace

Bates Bankert of Port Angeles sank his first hole-in-one Feb. 2 at The Cedars at Dungeness. Bankert used an Adams hybrid (metal/wood) 3 club to drive the 155-yard hole No. 17 at The Cedars. Gary Williams and Warren Cortez of Sequim and Joe Tomita of Port Angeles witnessed the feat.

Port Angeles hosts ‘Clover’ volleyball tourney

The third-annual Four-Leaf Clover Co-ed Volleyball Tournament is set for Saturday, March 12, at Port Angeles High School.

The format is reverse fours, meaning the net will be at women’s height, men must hit behind the 10-foot line, men cannot block women and there can be any gender mixture on teams.

The tourney features A (competitive) and B (recreational) divisions.

Cost is $80 per team, with a maximum of 16 teams in the tourney.

Hoops classic set

Port Angeles Recreation Department is hosting the Presidents Day Classic, presented by Red Lion Hotel, Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 19-20, with divisions for boys and girls basketball teams in grades 5-9.

The tourney features a four-game guarantee. Entry fee is $235 per team.

Junior soccer group opens registration

Sequim Junior Soccer’s Spring League registration for recreational soccer is open for U8 thru U15, with divisions for boys and girls. The season runs March 12-May 7. See www.sequimjuniorsoccer.com for more information.

The junior soccer group is also seeking adults ages 18 and up to referee games.
