ODT updates website

The Olympic Discovery Trail website (www.olym picdiscoverytrail.com) has been revamped with videos, photo galleries, announcements/notices, new links and maps.

Anglers host meeting

The Puget Sound An-glers, North Olympic Peninsula Chapter, hosts a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 Blake Ave., Sequim.

The meeting features a presentation by Jacques White of the Hatchery Scientific Review Group. He is slated to share his group’s recommendations for hatchery reform. For more information, call 460-0331.

Bates second, Wilson third at hoops shoot

Sequim’s entries into the state Elks Hoop Shoot competition both earned top-three finishes at Highland Middle School in Bellevue on Feb. 12.

Dusty Bates sank 18 of 25 shots to finish in a three-way tie for second place in the boys’ 12-13 division. The state winner sank 20 of 25 shots.

Sequim’s Halie Wilson, competing in the girls’ 12-13 division, sank 15 of 25 shots to finish third.

Other district participants joining Bates and Wilson were (by Elks lodge they represented): Kyle Larsen, Hoquiam; Myah Rodius, Shelton; C.J. Lagat, Bremerton; and Ashlynn Uvila, Port Angeles.

SkyRidge hosts Gut Buster, Shamrock Scramble tourneys

SkyRidge Golf Course, 7015 Old Olympic Highway, is home to a pair of special tournaments in March.

The fifth annual Shamrock Scramble for Charity tournament is set for a 9:30 a.m. start Saturday, March 19. The four-person scramble costs $180 per team or $45 per player. The fee pays for golf, lunch, range balls, an optional honey pot and four KP holes.

The Gut Buster tournament is slated for Saturday, March 26. The $55 entry fee pays for golf, lunch, range balls, honey pot and four KP holes, plus longest putt competition entry. The tourney, set as individual medal play format, features men’s and women’s divisions.

Hoops classic is Saturday, Sunday

Port Angeles Recreation Department is hosting the Presidents Day Classic, presented by Red Lion Hotel, Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 19-20, with divisions for boys and girls basketball teams in grades 5-9.

Space is available in all girls’ divisions and in boys’ fifth- and ninth-grade divisions. The tourney features a four-game guarantee. Entry fee is $235 per team.
