Agee, Coleman gets first aces
Chris Coleman of Sequim scored a hole-in-one – his first – on hole No. 14 at Discovery Bay Golf Course on April 5.
Playing into high grass and high winds, Coleman used a 5-wood from the 130-yard tee.
Bob Agee of Port Angeles sank his first hole-in-one on April 5 at The Cedars at Dungeness.
Agee used an 8-iron to drive the 124-yard eighth hole at The Cedars.
Sequim’s Richard Hansen, Agnew’s Jay Howard and Port Angeles’ Nick Holt witnessed the feat.
Mariner schedules available at Gazette
Free, pocket-sized Mariner schedules for the 2010 season are available at the front desk at the Sequim Gazette office, 147 W. Washington St., while supplies last.
Diamond skills competition set for April 25
The Port Angeles Recreation Department hosts the 2010 Aquafina Pitch, Hit, & Run skills competition on Sunday, April 25, at Volunteer Field in Port Angeles.
Formerly called Diamond Skills, the Pitch, Hit, & Run program is a free baseball/softball skills competition for youths ages 7-14 (as of July 17).
Each participant throws six pitches at a strike zone target, does a timed run from second base to home plate and hits the ball off a tee for distance.
For the first time, boys and girls compete separately. Metal cleats are not allowed for the competition.
Participants are asked to bring a copy of their birth certificate.
Boys compete at 1 p.m.; girls compete at 3 p.m.

MayDay hoops tourney set
Port Angeles Recreation Department is hosting the MayDay Roundball basketball tournament, May 1-2, with divisions for boys and girls basketball teams in grades 5-12. The tourney features a four-game guarantee.
Cost is $235 per team.

President’s Cup is at The Cedars
The Cedars at Dungeness hosts the President’s Cup, a match play-format tourney open to men’s club members.
Entry fee is $15. Registration deadline is 5 p.m. on April 16. Registration is limited to the first 32 players to sign up.
Matches start on Monday, April 19, and continue at two-week intervals.

ONP, other parks waive fees for a week
Olympic National Park, along with the nation’s 391 other national parks, is waiving entrance fees for April 17-25, the park service’s annual celebration.
Also scheduled are family friendly events on Saturday, April 24, for National Junior Ranger Day. Each child participating in Junior Ranger activities receives a certificate, patch or pin.
SkyRidge hosts spring opener
SKyRidge Golf Course (7015 Old Olympic Highway) is hosting a Spring Opener tournament, set to start at
9 a.m. Saturday, April 17.
Format is a two-person scramble with two divisions. Each team uses 30 percent of their combined handicap with no more than a 10-stroke differential in their individual handicaps.
Cost is $100 per team. Fee includes honey pot, KPs, range balls and lunch after play.

Free soccer coaching clinic set for April
Sequim Junior Soccer hosts a free soccer clinic for coaches from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at the Sequim High School practice fields, 601 N. Sequim Ave.
The clinic features instruction about attacking and defending from technical, tactical and functional approaches. Coaches learn how to get the best out of players and gain new teaching ideas for all ages of players.

Sequim Wrestling Club open to all ages
The Sequim Wrestling Club, a new freestyle wrestling club, is open to wrestlers of nearly all ages, from peewees to adults.
The club meets from 3:15-5:15 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday at the Sequim Community School gym, 220 W. Alder St.
Club wrestlers are able to compete at USA Wrestling-sanctioned freestyle wrestling tournaments nearly each weekend.
Coaches include Bill Schroepfer, assistant coach at Sequim High School; Rich Hay, Sequim Middle School coach; and Chris Goettling, middle school assistant coach.
So far this season, club wrestlers have taken to the mats at tournaments in Chehalis, Raymond, Sedro Woolley and Adna.
