Eagles raise pounds
The Olympic Peninsula Eagles, a semi-pro football team based in Sequim, raised more than 200 pounds of canned goods for the Sequim Food Bank at their April 10 home opener versus Snohomish, a team representative said.
Wrestling camp comes to Port Angeles
The Olympic Mountain Freestyle Challenge, a wrestling tournament for pee-wee through junior ages, is Saturday, April 24, at Port Angeles High School, 304 E. Park Ave.
Weigh-in is from 8-9 a.m. with matches starting at 10 a.m. Entry fee is $12.

BMX track opens for 2010 season
The Port Angeles BMX Track celebrated its opening day on Saturday, April 17.
All ages, genders and "BMX crazies" are welcome, say track officials. PABMX is an ABA-sanctioned event and offers free one-day memberships – or a get-two-races-free – with a new full membership. Mountain bike riders can sign up in the cruiser class.
Practices are on Thursdays from 4 p.m. to dusk with racing on weekends through the spring, summer and part of fall. For more information, see pabmx.com or contact Geri at 461-9103.
Aces abound at Dungeness
The Cedars at Dungeness saw a trio of hole-in-one shots recently.
Frank Reichl of Buckley sank his first hole-in-one at The Cedars at Dungeness on April 15. He used a pitching wedge to drive the 134-yard hole No. 8.
On April 16, Ken Jenson of Mountlake Terrace sank an ace on the eighth hole, driving the 145 yards with a nine-iron. It was his second hole-in-one.
Two days later, Gary Kettel of Sequim aced hole No. 11 at The Cedars, his fourth lifetime ace. Kettel used an eight-iron to drive the 140-yard hole. Ron Sather of Sequim, John Grandemange of Harbor Point and Ray Keener of Snohomish witnessed the feat.
I-fest golf tourney on tap
The Irrigation Festival 7 Cedars Casino Open is scheduled for Friday, May 7, at The Cedars at Dungeness, 1965 Woodcock Road.
The golf tourney is for two-person teams and features a new format, with the first six holes in reverse scramble, the next six holes in best ball format and the final six holes in alternate shot format.
Check-in is at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
Cost is $150 per team. Entry deadline is May 3.

Free soccer coaching clinic set for April
Sequim Junior Soccer hosts a free soccer clinic for coaches from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at the Sequim High School practice fields, 601 N. Sequim Ave.
The clinic features instruction about attacking and defending from technical, tactical and functional approaches. Coaches learn how to get the best out of players and gain new teaching ideas for all ages.
