Boucher wins Ridge Cup
Paul Boucher is the 2010 Ridge Cup champion at SkyRidge Golf Course, cementing his win last week after a two-month-long battle against about 30 other players.
Boucher went undefeated in his six matches, knocking out Shane Price on the 16th hole for the win. Price finished second, with third place going to Adam MacKay and Robb Reese taking home fourth.
Ridge Cup was head-to-head, double elimination match play competition.
Marunde wins MMA bout
Bristol Marunde, formerly of Sequim, won his mixed martial arts middleweight division bout against Shane Primm at Ball’s Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, N.J., on Sept. 18.
Marunde (11-6) won the three-round match by unanimous decision.
The 2000 graduate of
Sequim High School lives in Las Vegas.
Soccer raffle set
A raffle fundraiser for the Panthers, a Storm King BU17 Soccer Club select squad with players from Sequim and Port Angeles, nets the raffle winner a Seattle Sounders "Electricity" jersey (size adult L).
Raffle tickets are $3 each. The drawing is Oct. 1.
Funds go to help the team play against select boys teams in Pierce County.
Upcoming Panther games include Oct. 17, Nov. 7, Nov. 14 and Dec. 5. All games are on Sunday mornings at 11 a.m. at the Agnew Fields.

Soccer challenge set
The Port Angeles Recreation Division hosts the 2010 Soccer Challenge Skills Competition, scheduled to start at noon on Sunday, Oct. 3, at Civic Field in Port Angeles.
The Soccer Challenge is a soccer skills competition for boys and girls ages 14 and younger.
Skills tested are goal-shooting, timed dribbling, and throw-in and kick for distance and accuracy.
There is no charge to participate.
Top finishers in each age group have the opportunity to advance to a state competition.
Participants should bring a copy of their birth certificate.

SkyRidge open to families
The SkyRidge Golf Course (7015 Old Olympic Highway) hosts a family scramble set for a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Saturday, Oct. 16.
Play is a two-person, 18-hole medal play. The tourney is open to all blood or marriage-related pairings only.
Cost is $90 per team and includes optional honey pot (gross and net).
Entries include green fees, range balls, KPS, team LP and lunch.
Carts are $13 each.

Neah Bay takes 2 of 3 from Sequim ‘Pack’
Neah Bay youth football squads took two of three games in North Olympic Youth Football League action.
The Sequim Wolf Pack junior varsity squad emerged with a 20-13 win, but the home Neah Bay prep squad topped Sequim’s preps, 27-12, and Neah Bay’s varsity squad defeated Sequim’s Wolf Pack varsity, 25-7.
The Wolf Pack teams are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 2, against Chimacum. The prep team plays at noon while junior varsity starts at 2 p.m. and varsity plays at 4 p.m.
Crab Fest volleyball tournament slated
The second Jimmy & Sooke Crabfest beach volleyball tournament hits Port Angeles’ Hollywood Beach on Oct. 9-10.
The tourney is coed fours format, with a maximum of two males per squad.
Cost is $80 per team. With just one court, registration is limited to the first eight teams each day. Play on Oct. 9 is for adults, Oct. 10 for middle and high school-aged players.
Prizes include T-shirts and a Crabfest dinner.
Funds raised benefit the Port Angeles High School volleyball squads.

The Cedars hosts GolfToberFest
On Sunday, Oct. 10, The Cedars at Dungeness hosts GolfToberFest, a tournament featuring two-person teams with three, nine-hole styles of play.
The first nine holes are a scramble, the second nine are alternate shot and the final nine holes are best-ball format.
There are three divisions of play: gross, net and Callaway.
Cost is $70 per person; fee includes range balls, carts, KP contest, cigars, beer on the course (every three holes), German-style lunch, side games and about $1,500 in prizes.
Play starts at 10 a.m. at the course, 1965 Woodcock Road.

Best is sixth at World’s Strongest Man
Nick Best, husband of personal fitness trainer Callie Marunde (formerly of Sequim), finished sixth at the World’s Strongest Man Competition in South Africa in September.
Best and Marunde live in Las Vegas.
Callie Marunde was married to Jesse Marunde, a
Sequim native and international Strongman competitor who died in 2007.
Port Angeles BMX to help with food drive
The Port Angeles BMX track’s final weekend of racing is Oct. 23-24.
On Oct. 23, racing is capped off by a potluck. On Oct. 24, the track is home to a food drive; racers who bring 10 cans ride for free.
