adopts new fall hours
The Sequim Baseball U-18 batting and pitching facility has new hours until the fall prep seasons are complete. New hours are 3-6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
The organization is taking accepting new memberships.

Equestrian team hosts
meeting for new riders
The Sequim Equestrian Team is hosting a meeting for new, incoming riders at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Sequim High School cafeteria, 601 N. Sequim Ave.
Sequim High School students, plus those who are either homeschooled or attend
Sequim Community School, are eligible.

Gymnastics group
opens girls rec classes
Klahhane Gymnastics of Port Angeles is accepting registration for limited openings in recreational classes for girls 4-11.
Recreational classes meet once a week on Saturdays at Port Angeles High School, 304 E. Park Ave.
Tuition for the one-hour classes is $40 per month.
Registration also is open through Nov. 1 for the new Recreational Optional Team.
This team is open to girls 9 and older who have at least one year of previous competition experience.
The team meets twice weekly on Wednesday and Saturday and competes in the Western Washington Recreational Optional League.

Hospice race set
for Saturday at marina
The Reach for Hospice sailboat race is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sept. 20, starting at John Wayne Marina.
As in previous years, funds raised from the race are earmarked specifically for respite care for a skilled nurse to stay with the patient while family members leave for short periods of time to take care of family and personal business.
In 2007, the race generated more than $24,000 for Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County, which provides more than 1,500 hours of respite care, said race publicity chairwoman Sue Sorensen.
Since the first Reach for Hospice Race in 1991, race donations totaling more than $106,732 have been donated to Volunteer Hospice.

2008 Captain’s Cup golf
starts in early October
The 2008 Captain’s Cup begins Oct. 8, the first of three rounds of competition, at Peninsula Golf Course in Port Angeles.
Successive rounds are at SunLand Golf Course (round two) and The Cedars at Dungeness (round three).
The event is 54-hole Medal Play competition. Only amateurs living in Clallam County with a valid USGA handicap are eligible. Sign up at any of the golf courses by Sept. 15.
Cost is $155 per person with three amateur divisions. Fee includes tee prize, range balls and all three rounds of golf.
