prep meeting
The Puget Sound Anglers, North Olympic Peninsula Chapter, meeting slated for Feb. 19 features Hank David, owner of Waypoint Electronics.
The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave., Sequim.
David is scheduled to speak about getting boats ready for a new season on the water.

Sequim Baseball
hosts batting tourney
Sequim Baseball batting cages (775 W. Washington St.) hosts a batting tournament Feb. 21. The tourney has a $10 entry fee per person with singles and two-man teams. There are two divisions: 12 years and younger, and 13 years and older.

Flotilla class to help boaters be ‘in command’
Port Townsend Flotilla 47 of the Coast Guard Auxiliary is offering a "Suddenly in Command" class at 9 a.m. March 7 at the Point Wilson Lighthouse in Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend.
This four-hour boating safety primer is designed for those not generally at the helm of a boat and helps to be prepared with the basics in case of an emergency.
Commander Charles Marti, a licensed U.S. Coast Guard captain, conducts the class.
Cost is $25 per person.

Huevos team takes championship
Viva Los Grande Huevos repeated as Peninsula Volleyball League champions on Feb. 9, beating Olympic Veterinary Clinic 18-25, 25-21, 15-13 in the post-season tournament championship held at Peninsula College.
The winners, who included Eric and Michelle Palenik, Katie Irwin, Alec Schmidt, Michelle Burley, Sean Oden, Steve Baum and Rebekah Monet, voted to donate their $100 first-place prize to the Peninsula Team Turbo Volleyball Club.
American Marine Bank tied for third place with Fifth Avenue Furniture. The bank club stopped Fred’s Back 22-25, 25-17, 15-12 in the quarterfinals, before falling to Olympic Veterinary Clinic 25-21, 25-12 in the semifinals. The Furniture squad eliminated Underdogs 25-23, 25-27, 15-7 in the other quarterfinal, before falling to the Viva Los Grande Huevos, the eventual champion, 25-15, 25-20 in the other semi-final.
Cross country car
wash set for Saturday
The Sequim Cross Country team hosts a car wash from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Feb. 21 in the parking lot at Washington Mutual Bank, 680 W. Washington St.
Funds raise support the team for out-of-town trips.

Final Little League
tryout set
Youths interested in playing on a Sequim Little League baseball or softball team still have time to sign up for one more upcoming tryout.
Tryouts for most teams are from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 20-21 at the James Standard Little League fields, 124 W. Silberhorn Road.
The exception is the junior girls (13- and 14-year-olds), who try out from 3-5 p.m. on Feb. 28, also at the Little League fields.
Cost is $50 per player or $35 per T-ball player, with a $150 maximum per family.
Players trying out need to bring their official birth certificate.
Ages/divisions are as follows: T-ball (co-ed), ages 5-6; prep (co-ed), ages 7-8; boys minors, ages 9-11; boys majors, ages 9-12; girls minors, ages 9-11, girls majors, ages 9-12; girls juniors, ages 13-14.
