Brehm sinks ace

Karl Brehm of Sequim sank his third career hole-in-one on July 31 at The Cedars at Dungeness golf course.

Brehm used a 6-iron to drive the 143-yard hole No. 11 at The Cedars.

Keith Beck, Craig Turrentine and Ron Zimmerman witnessed the feat.

Local anglers to meet, hear from Fiero Center guests

The Puget Sound Anglers’ North Olympic Peninsula Chapter will host an open to the public general meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at the Sequim Elks Lodge, 143 Port Williams Road. People start gathering at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7 p.m.

The guest speakers will be Melissa Williams and Tamara Galvan from the Feiro Marine Life Center in Port Angeles. The anglers’ chapter has provided financial support through a grant earlier this year to support the center’s educational programs. Galvan and Williams will update members on the center’s current happenings and long range plans.

The group will also have a short business meeting, fishing reports and raffle drawings following their presentation. The raffles are for members only; a person can join at the meeting to participate in the raffles. An annual individual membership is $25, and a family membership is $35. Membership also includes The Reel News monthly newspaper.

Knights of Columbus slate annual tourney

The 19th-annual Knights of Columbus charity golf event is set for a 9 a.m. start on Saturday, Sept. 14, at Sunland Golf Course, 109 Hilltop Dr.

The four-person tourney is open to all, with entrance fees set at $40 for club members, $70 for non-members. Entry fee includes green fees, prizes and boxed lunch. All sponsor proceeds to local charities.

PC coed leagues set

Adult coed recreation opportunities for soccer, volleyball and basketball get under way in September, all hosted by Peninsula College. The leagues are limited to persons age 16 and older.

The Peninsula Soccer League features matches on Sundays from Sept. 1 through November.

The Peninsula Volleyball League has two divisions with games on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from mid-September through December.

The fee to participate in the adult soccer and volleyball leagues is $50 per person. Players can register as part of a team at peninsulacollege.prestosports.com/Events/AdultSportsLeagues. Basketball players can participate in a drop-in league called Peninsula Noon Hoops during the noon hour on Mondays and Fridays from Sept. 9 through December. A formal league begins in January with games on Sundays. Noon Hoops is a drop-in event, but participants need to be registered, also at $50 for the fall session.
