Free boat skills clinic set for Feb. 11
“Anchoring,” a free boating skills clinic by Don Stem of the North Olympic Sail and Power Squadron, is open to the public and scheduled for 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Feb. 11, at Sunland Golf Course and Country Club, 135 Fairway Drive. Stem will share his experience gained from his six trips up the Inside Passage to Alaska.
The clinic has been prepared to assist boaters in understanding the issues and problems involving the theories of anchor weight, the methods used to anchor, and the choices of anchor types for the area of boating.

Winter Links tourney set at SkyRidge
SkyRidge Golf Course hosts its 27-Hole Winter Links Open starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the course, 7015 Old Olympic Highway. Cost is $160 per team and includes golf, food, range balls and four KPs. Tourney format includes scramble, better ball and alternate shot. Optional honey pots are $80 per team. Power carts are available for $15 per seat.

Learn about sailing
The North Olympic Sail and Power Squadron offers a course in sailing for beginners and experienced sailors. The course starts at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, at the Sequim Bay Yacht Club Room at John Wayne Marina. The course teaches basic sailboat designs and nomenclature, rigging and safety from experienced sailors Mike Witkin and Dennis Miller. The course continues with the physical sailing forces and sail applications, marlinespike, helmsman ship, and handling of difficult sailing conditions and sailboat racing. This eight- to nine-week course includes a well-illustrated manual. Cost for the course is $55 for members of the Power Squadron and $110 for the public. Local golf courses set equipment bazaar
Four local golf courses are hosting the Olympic Peninsula Golf Equipment Bazaar, set for 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Feb. 11-12 at the Sunland Golf &Country Club’s conference hall, 109 Hilltop Drive, Sequim. Hosting courses include The Cedars at Dungeness, Peninsula Golf Club, Port Ludlow Golf Club and Sunland Golf &Country Club.The event features 2016 merchandise — clubs, balls, bags, apparel and more — at up to 50 percent off, plus complimentary hot dogs.
Youth basketball tourney on tap in PA
Port Angeles Parks &Recreation Department is hosting the Presidents Day Classic, Feb. 18-19, presented by the Red Lion Hotel. The youth basketball tournament has divisions for boys and girls teams from grades 4-8.
